Summary: Assists the City Engineer in design, planning and oversight of public works projects and land development activities to include construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities, roads and bridges, and water, storm water and sewage systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Apply principles of civil engineering to wide variety of projects; Review planned residential and commercial developments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines; Direct the City's Stormwater Management efforts; Design, review and oversight of construction of Public Works Capital Improvement Projects.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; minimum 2 years directly relatable experience.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer literacy to include Excel, Word and Windows. Effective verbal, written communication skills (English, and public speaking/presentation ability; strong customer service orientation to include ability to develop and maintain productive relations with government officials, business and community representatives and residents; Demonstrated knowledge of transportation, storm water, water, sewer, and building construction processes and procedures as well as appropriate local, state and federal regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints required; GIS skills preferred; MS4 experience preferred.

Licensing and Regulation: Valid Indiana driver's license. Valid Indiana E.I.T. preferred.

Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, repetitive motions with occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment/Schedule: Primarily indoor office environment with occasional field work in various weather conditions; Primarily fixed weekday schedule, with occasional weekday evening and/or weekend meetings
